Where does someone who knows nothing about a topic get off sharing their opinion as if it were fact?
I'm referring to so called celebrities. Are people so stupid that they read a Twitter message posted by an actor about alleged police violence and think this person knows what they are talking about?
The fact is that in most cases celebrities don't know what they are talking about. If Cher were to state on Twitter that Michael Bolton is singing off key, then I might pay attention. That's because Cher has commented on her craft. Anything else Cher commented on I would take with a grain of salt.
I believe that Twitter and other social media outlets are not really about the substance of the comment, but the celebrity putting their name out on social media. It works.
Some celebrities get arrested and sell the story about their criminal behavior for cash to smut magazines. The public wants to know all the juicy details and will pay to read about it. It's big business and the celebrities' Agents and Managers push it in order to keep a celebrities' name in the news.
Right or wrong? Who cares? The ignorant masses eat the lies and half truths up. The celebrities laugh all the way to the bank.
We are all being conned and the problem is, we know it because it has become entertainment. Reality TV wasn't reality at all. It was scripted and usually based on outlandish behavior that we were sold as being normal. The truth is it was mostly all Bullshit and every time we watched one of the shows we simply stepped in more of it.
Next time Alec Baldwin or Robert De Niro throw out a rant about politics or police brutality ask yourself this question. Are they commenting on their craft or are they putting their name out for publicity by commenting about something that they really know nothing about?
We already know Black Lives Matter was putting out unsubstantiated lies because the Harvard University research statistics showed their claims to be untrue. Yet millions of people still believe that police officers are murdering black men. This myth is being heralded as the truth by ignorant celebrities on several social media platforms.
The truth is they don't know the truth and even if they do they won't admit it because it isn't sensational enough to garner the publicity they crave. Remember, publicity equals fame and money.
I wonder how many police officers have been killed because of a celebrities' anti-police social media rant?
That's the way I see it.
