Each year I make a New Year's resolution to improve myself. This year is no exception. I have fought my weight for most of my adult life and I'm sure I've made countless resolutions concerning it. I may have found a solution.
This year for Xmas I asked for a Fitbit. It's a gizmo that tracks your heartbeat, calories, steps taken and sleep patterns. It even allows you to read text messages and tells you when your iPhone rings. Oh, and it's a watch too. It's an amazing gadget and I'm a gadget person.
My goal is 10,000 steps each day. To do this you are in a friendly competition with other Fitbit wearing folks, mostly family members with similar goals. The reason for motivation is, they can see what you accomplish. If I sit on my ass all day, they know it.
This being my first official day of retirement from law enforcement, I have to fill in some of my time with new things and the Fitbit should help me do that. We'll see.
I have a few more resolutions that I made:
Improve my vocabulary, read more, watch my language especially around my family and remain goal oriented.
Shit! I'm running behind on my steps! Happy New Year!
